Done A LOT!

We were later than planned (as usual :)) and headed off to Hasenheide just after 12 pm.

We wanted to try the Breakfast Buffet at the "Wirtshaus zur Hasenheide” offering all you can eat for 4.90 EUR.
It was hot and a 30 min walk.

The breakfast was pretty amazing. A lot of stuff on offer including scrambled eggs, cakes, pancakes, meats, cheese and a lot more.

We left the place quite stuffed just after 2 pm and walked towards Maybachufer and dodgy Kreuzberg.

We did walk over the Türkenmarkt, but did not buy anything. We had a wee look at the Friedrichshain - Kreuzberg Museum on the way.
When we arrived at Oranienstrasse we needed water and stopped at a Späti where we sat for a while.
It was over 30 degrees.

Rehydrated we continued on Oranienstrasse and walked to Moritz Platz where Neil wanted to show me the incredibly stationary and arts shop. It was huge and overwhelming, but we walked out with a few new pens and folders.

On the way there I had seen an open garden on the other side of the road and we had a look.
It was a wonderful shadowy community space inviting to chill and have a drink.

We claimed a bench and a table and had a coffee and some more water.
I think we stayed quite a while. It was really nice there.

After 7 we continued and took the U-Bahn to Hermannplatz as I wanted to try the roof terrace bar called Klunker Kranich at the top park deck of a shopping mall in Karl Marx Strasse.

We found our way up there and where a bit surprised that we were charged 5 Euros entry fee each.
The space was pretty cool with nice views over Berlin, but the bar was expensive and the choices not overwhelming.

Nonetheless we stayed a while, until the sun had gone down.

Neil had in the meantime found the next place to visit, which was a Scottish Pub called The Gift in the middle of Neukölln. It is owned by the Keyboarder of the band Mogwai.
We walked there and had another beer/gin.

After 11 pm we set off again and wandered along Sonnenallee.

Here we ended up having halal crispy fried Chicken in a place called Risa. It was actually pretty good!

At midnight we walked to the U-Bahn and to get home.

Neil seems to have found some fun in travelling without tickets, as we had read this is what Berliners do …. and you are not a real Berliner when you have not done it! So we actually saved 7.30 Euro today by travelling “illegally” without a stamped ticket …. ;)
Done :)

Now we are home and knackered. Photos will have to wait …….

Blipping the sunset view from the Klunker Kranich roof top.
