Travels around......

.... the beautiful and historic Dordogne region. Today N and I went off exploring together leaving our hosts to have a day to themselves. We visited the small historic town of Perigeuex which is where the blip was taken then went on to a wonderful tiny village called Bordeilles which has a a beautiful stone keep and then a renaissance chateau built beside it. The keep and chateau were both built in beautiful warm sandstone and made them so very different to our grey Scottish castles. Must have been very elegant places to live I think :) The extra was the view over the river from the castle walls.
Perigeux has an area near the river which was I guess a poorer working class area till the 1950's when it was knocked down as it kept flooding - there was a fascinating display of paintings and photos from the area on a wall near the cathedral. The town also has a medieval centre .....all cobbled streets and shutters. Fabulous :)
