Britain Does Summer

Phew - Queensland temperatures in Northampton where we reached 41C in my garden. 'Official' highest temp in Britain was in Cambridge at 38.1.

As we have come to expect in this country, there was travel chaos as most of the railway infrastructure failed and trains sat on the rails for many hours. Tarmac roads melted. At least this time the excuse wasn't the usual, 'leaves on the line', 'frozen points'.

Wildlife such as this Small White waited until the relative cool of dusk to emerge.

Friday will be much cooler. Summer here is a short season.
