Sunflower and Bee

The second blooms on the roses are lovely. The crape myrtle is coming into full bloom. But the salvias and the sunflowers are attracting the greatest number of bees. I got up to the raised beds fairly early this morning before it got too warm, taking a half loaf of bread which we didn't eat and didn't freeze before it got too dry to eat. I hate it when that happens, so I decided to put it out  fling it over the fence into the field to see who might like it. (I've already made a lifetime supply of breadcrumbs.) If nobody wants it, it's but a short walk to the compost pile. Two people are unlikely to be able to eat a large wood fired loaf of bread before it goes stale, but we really like it, and it can be managed if we just put our minds to it.

I also took a peek around OilMan's shed, the only spot where we can see it from out property, at the new house going in. The foundations, so noisily poured a week ago at 4am are set and the wooden forms removed. They are now fastening footing boards to the concrete. Still much too early to tell what the house will look like, but it seems quite well sited, at least as far as we are concerned,  considering the line of power poles blocking the original building site.

Being on this side of the pond, I already know about the weather which disrupted the Tour de France, but we have restrained ourselves until now to watch it unfold. 108º in Paris! Mon Dieu!
