Planting out...

Volunteers planted out another 500 native plants in a small wetland area this morning. Many people turned up, so it was an easy 2 hours work. Lots of children and families, so a great learning environment. 2 local businesses supplied tea and coffee and scones, and a person in loved near the wetlands made another batch of scones for us- so that was kind of them.
Some of the plants had netting around them to protect them from rabbits, and most had old carpet placed around the base to keep the weeds down.

Te Kakano is certainly an amazing organisation based on volunteers who grow native plants and then turn out in force for the different plantings.

Friends in for dinner tonight..so a good ending to a super Saturday.
