40 Degrees - Day 1

They look like they're hugging each other, no?  In any case, they are way taller than the blockhut (a.k.a. garden shed) and I had to crane my neck in some ludicrous positions just to get a proper shot, made slightly more difficult by the fact that they were nodding and bobbing their heads in the hot breeze that felt more like a hair dryer turned on at maximum level.  Okay, okay, at least there was a breeze.

It was too hot to work at anything for a long period of time, so we stayed inside and drank a lot.  I have rediscovered the art of afternoon napping in a dark room.  AW has been drinking his meds regularly, happy to report, and keeps himself lubricated, and watches the Tour de France to fill the time.  Whenever I was at my desk, it was genealogy research that distracted me, plus some gaming.  Why didn't we go for a swim in the local pool?  Well, for starters, it will have been crowded, and second, who wants to swim in semi-boiling water and get serious sunburn?  Factor 97 needed now.  Is it stressful, generally speaking?  Honestly, yes.

As for these two, and the rest of the garden, we have been keeping the soil wet regularly.  We get our water from the enormous communal pond in the backyard.  AW has harvested one of the gigantic courgettes (a.k.a. zucchini) and made a pot of yummy soup.  With this heat, soup is enough.
