Thank You For the Days ..

Wild Goose Chase

It rained today, as promised. The car thermometer said 15 degrees as we set off this afternoon. That's half the heat of Thursday - crazy.

We're looking for a small semi-circular table to put outside the door of our flat in Edinburgh. I'm not inclined to spend much on it - I once had an old terracotta planter pinched from our doorstep in Yorkshire and once bitten, twice shy.

So  I've searched Ebay and Gumtree, fruitlessly, and today we set out to visit the local second-hand/junk/antique shops.

We found a three story former mill in Hawick full of enormous furniture. Just the place to go if you have bought yourself a small castle ........

No small tables, then, but quite a good selection of the quirky.  An elephant's foot, made into a stool?? An enormous, hideous faience jardiniere? (Our floor wouldn't be strong enough to support it.) A set of three pith helmets (or a bowler, if you prefer a more urban look)?A pith helmet might have come in handy in the heatwave last week.

I liked these ladies setting out on a road trip - who or why??  The Thelma and Louise of Galashiels, maybe. We left them there.

Silly enough for Silly Saturday, I hope.  Thank you, Admirer, for hosting.
