Plathemis Lydia ~ Common Whitetail

I was out in the vegetable garden taking photos of butterflies when I was suddenly surrounded by a swarm of dragonflies! Usually I see them singly, so this was quite wonderful. There were at least six of them, mostly females. In the photo the male is on the top, female on the bottom. These are the common whitetail, also called long-tailed skimmer. They all landed along the rock wall, which was handy for photographic purposes!
