Haymaking

As we left our Tamworth house this morning to head  back to Northampton, we stopped across the road at my cousins Jim and Beth (in the center in the link). Starting up their winding driveway the potential for this composition struck me. We'd seen the elaborate contraption (a wheel rake--see this video) in operation the previous day--it gathers newly cut hay in so-called windrows, ready for rolling into the cylindrical bales. The drive home went smoothly, and we were back after mid-afternoon.  Many of the red day lilies in yesterday's blip had faded by this morning--I may well have caught them just at their peak.

P.S.  I've marked the precise spot of this image on the map.
