Canoeing and Highland Dancing

Backblip
What a great day we had !
Drive to Loch Inch to the water sports centre to get togged up and a drive in their mini bus along with the kids club to Kingussie where we were let go long before the kids set off (thankfully) as they were mega loud!

It was lovely meandering down the Spey. We saw a bunch of herons take off as we rounded a bend. A white horse popped its head up from eating, a lone swan pounded on the water as they do before they can take off ending up running alongside us. Fish leaping and a sight of the osprey nesting on an island at the side of the river.

Cameron and I hit an overhanging tree at one point and went backwards down the ‘rapids’ but that added to the fun. Stopped for a picnic on the riverbank and all the while taking in the beauty of the Cairngorm mountains we could see from the water. Boys also loved it.

Met Laura and Breagha as we docked and we had a wander round the boardwalk and a coffee in the Cafe balcony. It was so warm too.

Evening spent having toasted marshmallows at the fire pit in front of the house and played some music. Ben was desperate for us to dance the Flying Scotsman country dance so in the shadows of the Cairngorms we laughed and danced and just had so much fun.

The whole day was like something out of the Famous Five novel :)
