Work in progress!

On an extremely wet day I decided to carry on with a painting I started last Saturday when it also rained all day.
French Book Club this morning. A very enjoyable discussion on the book by François Mauriac which was in the main a depressing read but I determined to finish it! Two of the others gave up! There are 8 of us altogether.
In doing a little research into his life I could see why and where it impacted his writing in this particular book.
Le Nœud des Vipères.
Looking out of our loft bedroom window just now there are sheets of deluging rain pouring out of the sky and hammering on the roof!
I was staking up roses yesterday from the weekend’s onslaught. But we’ve needed the rain.
A friend of ours in holiday in Ibiza had to be evacuated from their hotel due to a forest fire which reached the grounds and garden! Everyone had to stand in the sea!
She said it was very scary, but the hotel staff were wonderful.
The firemen managed to contain it and they were all allowed back later.
But the hotel reeks of smoke at the moment.
Crazy weather, extreme highs, then a drop of 20 degrees and storms!
We are seriously talking about only having one flight per year now due to global warming. That’s to “family” in the States. Our son’s widow (he died aged 30 in 2006) who married again in 2011 to a lovely guy from Texas. They now live in Austin, having moved from Dallas two years ago.
We are going over next year again all being well. We were there last October.
Time for tea!
