Happy 100th birthday to Norwegian

Today marked the 100th anniversary of No 376 entering service on Norwegian Railways and to commemorate this day a members only special ran this evening between Tenterden and Bodiam and return.

Norwegian has been with the KESR since around 1972 and has been a loyal servant to the railway. It is due to go out of service in December for a major overhaul which may include new boiler and cylinders. Tonight's special was partly organised by the Norwegian Trust to raise money to fund the overhaul.

There has been a long association between the KESR and Norway, the Ambassador relaunching the loco back into service on one occasion and requesting that it be named Norwegian. On tonight's run was the Norwegian Envoy on the left and the Chairman of the Norwegian Trust on the right. In extras, aptly dressed for the part is the Envoy's brother who fired the loco on the return trip.
