Urban Truth

I go by this house several times a week on my way to one event or another just down the street. It’s always intrigued me—a relic of Bentonville’s early history before it gave into urban sprawl.

Most of the street is lined with reconstructed houses, putting a veneer of timelessness to such relics. Sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars, preserving elderly trees and a sensibility of vitality which surely the scruffy house had back “then.”

I felt at peace with it. The house and I are likely the same age or close, bridging the relevance of several generations. I am at peace.
