D-Day 75 Garden, Arromanches-les-Bains, Normandy

Our last full day in France, and a big change in the weather. A much cooler day, only 21 degrees, and a wet start and end to the day.

Having had to alter our itinerary to pick up spares for the van, we only had 10 miles to drive to our final camp, so we spent a leisurely morning in Bayeux, visiting the British War Cemetery, before heading to the supermarket to stock up on French goodies. (extras 1 & 2)

From Bayeux, we headed to the coast and to Arromanches-les-Bains, where we were lucky enough to get a pitch in the Aire, directly overlooking the sea and the remains of the Mulberry Harbour, that played such a vital role in the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944 (extra 3).

Extra 4 is a sight we came upon on the road to Arromanches, made us do a double-take, not something you see every day!
