A Special Day

Today would have been Sumner's 30th birthday - each year, for the last 6 we continue to celebrate her in some special way and it usually involves the beach.  This year we took Na'iema and went to Ogunquit (o-gon-quit) Maine. It was sunny and hot and N's first time at the ocean.  The tide was high and the beach was crowded but we hardly noticed as we spent the hour in the breaking waves which she couldn't get enough of.  She absolutely loved it and had no fear whatsoever.  As for myself, I was afraid to let go of her as all 19 pounds could easily be carried away by the surf.

We then took a couple of Trolley rides to and from the downtown tourist area with shops and restaurants.  She was a delight at lunch and loved the trolley rides, engaging people wherever we went.

Sidenote:  Jon is notoriously frugal when it comes to buying things for himself - he had a flip flop malfunction and shuffled to the Trolley stop and fortunately found a (can you believe this?) flip-flop shop within a 1 minute walk of the place where we were let off.  A little more expensive than he would have liked, but I'm sure he'll wear them for a very long time.

In extra, Na'iema and "pop" shadow which apparently she is too young to notice as I've tried to point it out to her a few times.
