Chalkie

Taking the dogs for a walk up Nottingham Hill late this afternoon was hot even then. I was on a quest to see the Chalkhill Blue butterflies which are there every year in just one particular spot.

Loving the chalk and limestone, south facing flower-rich soils where the favourite food of it's caterpillar is the Horseshoe Vetch it thrives in many fine colonies in the abandoned quarries. It doesn't appear to like Westies and being nudged by a wet nose strangely.
