Wood wasp

A bit of carpentry today. Cutting new boards for our cabin’s deck using a seriously whizzy new mitre saw. Half way through I was interrupted by a seriously electrical sounding buzzing and a hornet size insect showing some real interest in my handiwork. After a bit of running around to try to stay out of its way, I got brave enough to take a picture when it finally settled on one of my planks and got to work with it’s monster-sizedovipositor. I have never seen a wood wasp this big before.!
