Keep Alight Your Halos'

Feel much better today, but being off work meant I couldn't go anywhere so a friend popped around to show off his up rated LED bulbs.

Anyone into their BMW's will know these are Halo lights (or "Angel Eyes"). BMW were the first manufacture (and only with the exception of Chevy putting them on their Camaro) to develop and fit these to their cars, first of all being on their 2001 E39 5 Series. This was the facelift version of the E39 5 series as previous models, unless otherwise specified came with ordinary halogen bulbs, and not the projector type headlights on the 2001 onwards models. They were originally designed to be a modern and stylish alternative to DRL's (Daytime Running Lights) in which a lot of countries around the world required by law, and in fashion which now have to be factory fitted to a new vehicles (there are exceptions) in the UK.
Unfortunately their good looks and style were taken on bored by "boy racers" and the like and they were soon cheaply reproduced and became an aftermarket product that could be fitted to most cars, a victim of their own success? Much like Lamborghini and their "scissor doors" and Lexus and their trademark clear rear lights.

However, this E92 335d M-sport which came from factory with these halo lights looks superb, and now even better with uprated LED bulbs fitted. They give a purple tinge to them, not LCi intense, but just nice.
