I WILL survive

While walking the fit bit, I  spotted a vacant lot, that had been "cleared", by burning everything.

This tree, had survived the ordeal, largely unscathed - it stood tall and proud.  The only real sign of the trauma, there were a few patches of resin, oozing out of the trunk.
