Not a Painted Lady

Lots of butterflies around in the garden today. I liked this photo as it shows how the Peacock Butterfly scares off predators.

I know there are Blippers at shows today and more in the coming weeks, but at the Blipmeet yesterday a few people showed an interest in our own Dufton Show, so here are a few details in case anyone feels like visiting. The last few years have seen our family attending (and incidentally more or less sweeping the board with our prize-winning entries in the Industrial Tent!). Last year both daughters ran in the Fell Race and one granddaughter received a trophy for her race. One granddaughter and her dog

Sadly the family can't come up at that time this year, so we thought we would give others a chance at the prizes! We will probably wander down to the Show anyway, so if anyone would like to come we would be delighted to see you. clickychick will be there with her stand.

Dufton Show Saturday 31st August 2019
Dufton Show is known as The Fellside Royal, as it is really the show for several local villages, as well as ours. It is one of the oldest in the county and is still a traditional agricultural show, with very little commercialisation. It is not big, but has all the elements one might expect. It also has a wonderful fellside backdrop.

This website gives details. The show opens at 9am and there is something happening in the show ring from that time onwards. However, the Industrial Tent does not open until 12, after judging. Dogs are welcome.
