Making tracks

A dull, misty day, but a well-earned cuppa brewing in our indispensable Kelly kettle to celebrate marking our first track through our newly acquired wood near Llawhaden in Pembrokeshire.

The track meanders through the length of our wood via a clearing surrounded by oak and beech. Mabel and Miss Pickles already know their way through to the rabbits at the far end of the wood, but were well behaved today. The log seats in the foreground are Grand Fir which grows in this part of the wood - not a species I had knowingly met before. The camera, with the shutter on self-timer is balanced on yet another log. We heard, but did not see, a jay and a wren.

Yesterday we were privileged to see a Merlin lurking in a scots pine in Sara's garden and even managed a photo or two - eclipsed by the New Years Day swim blip. Too many blip opportunities!
