Low Tide in Machiasport

After an almost eight hour drive (which should have been considerably shorter, but for the very heavy traffic), we have arrived at our little holiday cottage on the harbour in Machiasport, Maine.  It is a very cute little place with a cute little name -- The Frisky Fish -- and we are looking forward to exploring the area, relaxing, and welcoming sons and grandchildren tomorrow.

This is the scene just outside our front door -- lobster boats moored.  You can tell by those rocks heavily covered with seaweed that the tide is low, and in this part of Maine, when the tide is low, it is very low, and when the tide is high, it is very high!  (It can be as much as 17 feet!)
