temple wood

The trees have been here for hundreds of years, the stones for over 4,000. Two stone circles at Temple Wood, near Kilmartin, may have been a temple, or a way to measure the movement of the heavenly bodies, or both of these. They were also used as burial sites at one time.

There are more ancient monuments in this glen than you could shake a stick at. We were here in February but the museum was closed, so we have returned on our way to Islay. The museum was really good, and the lady at the desk fell in love with Jess, who was waiting for us outside.

Although we left home very early this morning in rain, the sun came out once we were over Rest and be Thankful, so we've had a nice afternoon wandering around the area and revisiting Dunadd, where D is doing his yoga :-)
