Society of High Constables

Every now and again something truly strange happens in Edinburgh, even though I am well used to the colour of the Fringe or the Beltane Festival. I was out and about taking some photos on the Royal Mile and made use of the car free Victoria Street and Cockburn Street. Police and Fringe ushers kept the street between St Giles and the City Chambers free. I kind of got stuck but was also curious to see what would happen. The Society of High Constables paraded from St Giles to the City Chambers in all their finery. According to their website the society was founded in 1611.

I am still waiting for the panoramas to be processed...
