"Sea of Crap"

The torrential downpours we've been having amongst the bursts of strong, hot sunshine have washed a slew of stuff down the Water of Leith to the basin, where it gets trapped. It was named the Sea of Crap by protestors wanting it dealt with. TBF it's more natural debris than really offensive stuff but, nonetheless, it's deeply unattractive in a lovely part of Leith that locals enjoy and tourists come to. The WoL basin is owned by a private individual and the Port is owned by a private company. After much to-ing and fro-ing, the city Council has brokered a clean up solution but points out, not unreasonably, that council taxpayers' money should not have to be used to bail out the private sector. Frankly I think it's a scandal that the water can be owned by anyone and the same goes for the Port. Esp as we will be needing it when we are finally independent. Nationalise the lot and be done.
