Ruddy Darter

The unmistakable blood-red eyes of the male Ruddy Darter. I've been surveying dragonflies on Chailey Common LNR for the past nine years and have only found Ruddy Darter sporadically and in low numbers. I was therefore both surprised and pleased to record 16 (including four mating pairs) this afternoon.
