Audouin's Gull

Once deemed to be the world's rarest gull, they have done well over recent years and are now relativley common in the right sort of places and Mallorca seems to be one of those.
A trip down memory lane for  E today visiting the bay and hotel of her childhood holidays. There was still a fair bit of swell and the dingy transfers again proved interestng. Even more so on the return where the swell had bent one of the hinges on the transom making things tricky. Tricia and I resorted to the swimming transfer.
On then south, and with a decent wind, the sails were put up and progress made across a choppy sea. Unfortunately as it got choppier and the decision was taken to take down the sails, the mainsail remained resolutely up. No real crisis just a pain.
We had booked a berth in the marina at Cala d'Or and the extensive harbour there proved a sheltered spot for us to take down the mainsail and sail serenely into the luxury of a pontoon. That said  I am not sure Tricia's little toe would describe it as sailing serenely in....
Hot showers, tied firmly up to a stable berth and walking distance from the ablutions all seemed like real comfort.
Another night, another cocktail or two before heading off to a relatively trendy restaurant where E had, again, blagged us a table. Do it yourself guacamole and fired baby squid made for a good starter.
Back then to the boat and no having to negotiate dingies and the like. Luxury.
