Dead Bug

Looks like it was caught in a spider's web but then proved too tough for the spider to tackle? I presume it's some sort of beetle but as with the Butterfly/ moth issue yesterday, the DK Wildlife of Britain book (600 pages of it) does not have many photos taken from underneath.
