A few fields look attractive with masses of bluish-lilac flowers of Lacy Phacelia (Phacelia Tanacetifolia).   They are grown as green manure before being ploughed in after flowering, in order to improve the fertility of the soil.  The nectar and pollen is loved by beneficial pollinating insects and sometimes grown for honey bees.
