Getting Lost

Went to Bristol to meet Icelandic friend yesterday - and had a lovely day with her until we got dreadfully lost on Clifton Downs.....Parked the car, paid a parking fee (thankfully) and went walkies.... It poured with rain so we had to keep ducking under cover. We got to the gorge/river overlook and could see the Clifton Bridge in the murk in the distance and the dirty river Avon below.
It was the return that caused the problem as when it poured we rushed to a clump of trees - where we met this cheerful robin and then when we came out of the trees we were not able to see a single landmark..... and headed off in the general direction, but at about 45 degrees to where we ought to land up.   We trudged along a footpath by the road and eventually a car pulled up - a dog walker - phew! So we asked him if he was local,   which he was thankfully, so we explained our predicament.  He tried not to laugh but after I'd explained the road we'd taken out of Clifton and the fact we'd paid for parking he knew exactly where the car was.  He strolled with us and made sure we got to the vehicle safely!  A real gent and we were very grateful as the 10,000 steps had long passed....
I stayed with number two son taking him out for a tasty Indian meal and slept very well.
