Generous Nature

I love these Soleil d’or jonquils and I have them growing where I can see them from my kitchen workbench. This one caught my eye and I went out to investigate. Instead of six petals (or are they sepals?) it has ten, and instead of three anthers it has five. There is just one stigma, but instead of being very thin it is wide and flat. The other two flowers with it are normal. See Chamaeleo's interesting comment below.

Until mid-afternoon today was like a warm spring day, with daffodils and blossoms and sunshine. The air was lovely and fresh and filled with birdsong. As I was preparing containers and planting vegetables to put in the greenhouse a bellbird returned again and again to the Japonica flowers close by.
