Day 17 Ullapool to Inverness

96 km, 850m of ascent Max Speed 58.7!!
Today was the last big ride of the trip. We left Ullapool in sunshine, ready for the long pull up to Loch Droma, 290m. It was not too bad, there was just quite a lot of traffic, and a few caravan drivers passed way too close, I guess they were all on holiday too?
The blip is Loch Droma, which is a hydro dam, it was beautiful and warm and sunny there, I think looking over to Ben Wyvis. We had an early lunch at the Altguish Inn, then carried on, the weather starting to cloud in now. Next stop was the Glen Ord distillery, it was on the way, so we thought we should have a look. I was really surprised to find they mo longer make the original 12 year old, and produce a malt only for export to S E Asia.
The sky looked very black, and we pushed on to Beauly, where the heavens well and truly opened. First we took refuge under a tree, but after 10 mins this no longer helped! Eventually it eased off, and we carried on the last v wet 20 km to Inverness, on a pretty busy road.
We had the same problem in Inverness, there were literally no tables available in any restaurant. Inverness was completely full of tourists, I never expected not to get a table for 2 at 6pm on a Monday night! Eventually we found a hotel on the outskirts which also served food.
