Heather on the moors

Visiting our friends up in the Yorkshire Dales, a colourful time to be up here as the heather comes into flower. It has been a hard time for the residents of this area as storms have bought floods and chaos to peoples lives. It is not so much that the rivers flooded as that the rain just poured down off the hills in sheets washing everything before it. Beautiful old stone walls roads and bridges that have stood for a hundred years were washed away, houses filled in an instant full of mud and boulders, livestock drowned; in short peoples lives turned upside down and into a misery.
Yesterday was a dry day and it was beautiful driving up here over the moors however as l look out the window l see very little as the rain has come in again and mist shrouds the hills.
