Point and Shoot

Liverpool from Queen Mary 2

It was a rare opportunity to make the transatlantic crossing from Liverpool to New York on a Cunard Liner, and it started on a glorious summer day with the waterfront in brilliant sunlight.

The boarding was fast and efficient, with 300 passengers joining at Liverpool.  I met people from the region who were surprised that they had been unable to book a Liverpool departure and had travelled to Southampton, Americans who were Beatles fans and a lady who went to school with Lennon and McCartney.

I took some photos using the ship as a viewpoint, but chose this one as it shows the railing on Deck 7 with a temporary repair.  During the cruise, this was one of the repairs of a ship that looks as though it may be due a major overhaul as the crew could barely keep up with painting out the rust.
