And Into The Night

I did some school work in the morning and then went to see two games of baseball in the afternoon. Actually, two and a third because I caught the last three innings of the game between Iyama and Sendai Ikuei. What a game that must have been, ending with a 20 points to 1 victory for Sendai!

The first full game I watched was a real corker, Narashino versus Okinawa Shougakkou. A real nail biter. Narashino took the lead at the top of the second inning by scoring one point, then scored another point at the top of the fourth. But then Okinawa pulled ahead by scoring three points at the bottom of the fourth. Narashino immediately equalised with another point at the top of the fifth, but Okinawa went ahead again with another point at the bottom of the sixth inning. Okinawa stayed one point ahead right until the eighth inning, when Narashino scored one more point to end the ninth inning on a 4-4 tie. In the tenth inning, Narashino scored another point and then struck out three Okinawa players in a row to end the game 5-4 to Narashino.

The next game I watched, between Tsuroka Higashi and Takamatsu Shougyou was not so thrilling as that. In fact, I was planning on leaving after the fifth inning because it was so dull. At the end of the fourth inning, Tsuroka had scored 0 and Takamatsu had scored 2. Then, at the top of the fifth inning, Tsuroka stormed in with three points. They scored another point in the eighth inning and two more in the ninth. Takamatsu then scored two more points at the bottom of the ninth and came close to forcing a tenth inning, but then some impressive pitching from Tsuroka ended the game at 6-4 to Tsuroka.

Once the baseball was over I rushed home, had a quick shower and then went to Umeda to watch Lion King which, I have to say, was a visual and auditory feast which sadly lacked the emotional impact of the original; real animals are simply not as expressive as animated characters. Perhaps the clue is in the word - animated

Still reigns supreme.
