Pergamon

After doing my washing in a local launderette, I went into the city centre to visit the Pergamon Museum. Although there are some stunning antiquities, there's a lot of reconstruction so it's not always clear how much of what you see is original. This is particularly true of the spendid-looking Ishtar Gate and processional walls of Babylon (see extras). Many of the wonderful lions and other details are original and a delight, but few of the blue tiles are original.
