'A Day at The Beach'

As the weather was going to be stinking hot today, we thought we'd take the kids down the beach to cool off.

Ended up down at Lorne along the Great Ocean Road.

The drive down was pretty painful as there were roadworks just past Geelong and we were stuck in a traffic jam for about half an hour there with 2 hungry kids in the back seat. Then another half hour traffic jam coming into Anglesea at lunch time, but it was worth it by the time we reached our destination.

The weather was a lot cooler down there, about 10 degrees cooler than Melbourne which was really nice.

Kids had a great time playing amongst the sand and rocks. We drove through town to be away from the huge crowds on the main beach and not far from the Lorne pier.

The day slowly cleared up and got a bit warmer towards 4pm when the sun finally broke through the cloud cover, and by 5pm we headed back to the main drag for ice creams and then fish and chips which we ate on one of the seats near the beach you can see in this shot.

This was taken as we were leaving to come home at around 7pm.
