daily observations

Rainy day out

We took the family to Quarry Bank Mill to see how cotton is made. As my grandchildren were born in Kent it was quite an eye opener for them, especially the cruel way the children were employed in the 17 and 1800’s. Many of them were killed in accidents in the mill. It was good for my grandchildren to know how cloth is made as well. Their Dad’s first job was in a Woollen Mill in Brighouse so he knows all about it. His workmates thought he was posh because he lived in Leeds :-)
