The farmers lot...

...is not always a happy one.

It's been a very mixed day... we went to church at Castle Camps this morning and this afternoon I went to see Michael and Chris on their farm.

Straw is very much a bi-product for them, they have little or no use for the huge volume that is left from harvesting barley and oats. But they are able to realise some value by selling the straw off the field to straw dealers who export it to the continent or sell it on for power generation.

Chris and Michaels straw has been sold and before it could be baled it was rained on so it needed turning to dry before the baler could get to work. This young man with his CASE IH 185 Puma and front mounted turner spent most of the day turning straw only to see an incredibly severe thunderstorm turn up at 6pm and ruin all his work.
