"Girl, Girl, Weird Thing"

My son grows heirloom tomatoes and loves their unusual patterns, colors, varied flavor and fascinating stories. He grew this one called, “Girl, Girl, Weird Thing”.  It’s a mutant variety about 3-4″, with dark green and chocolate stripes, dark red to purple fruit with deep green shoulders. It has delicious rich, slightly salty, smoky-fruit flavor. As part of a seed exchange, he got it from the people that named it. They have a dog named “girl - girl” that like to steal ripe tomatoes off the plants, and found it growing wild.
My favorite tomatoe name is “Mortgage Lifter."  It’s a a beautiful red tomato with great flavor, consistent texture, and high production. The story behind it is that the guy that started it sold so many seeds he has paid off his house.
