A monument

My brothers and I visited a park in Amsterdam where we'd never been before. In 1972 it was the location of Floriade, a once in a decade event about flowers, gardens and agriculture. We saw a lot of remnants of 1972, unusual trees, nice corners etc.

In the photo a later addition. A monument for 140 Dutch men who were executed in the last months of the war. Every chair stands for one person shot with a plaque underneath with name and age.

There are three different kind of chairs. The ones aged under thirty have a chair without armrests, the ones aged thirty until forty have a chair with armrests, for forty and older there is a more comfortable chair with a backrest leaning back. A thoughtful and impressive monument.
