that holds the power of decision. 

08:50 and there were 13 people ahead of me queuing at the (closed) door of the A&E department at the Eye and Ear Hospital. 
I knew then it would be a long morning. That's when having a good book in one's rucksack becomes priceless. 
Several hours later and the ear infection and its associated loss of hearing were no longer the (Jack Parla)bane of my life. 

The A&Eye - E&Ear hospital definitely is a busy place. 
My own repair factory was far from stagnant when I got there,
