Wildheuerweg

What a glorious Sunday, and a wonderful hike in Uri. A good early start too, we left the house at 6.20, and already at the top of the little cable car at Eggberge, sitting on the terrace at Restaurant Seeblick with the first coffee admiring the view over Vierwaldstättersee (Lake of Luzern).
The trail is called the Wildheuerweg, at the slopes are very steep and grassy and the alp farmers up there cut the wild hay, which is incredibly dangerous work. We followed the narrow track around to Alp Franzen, then decided to go up over the more difficult alpine route to the Buggi bahnli on the other side. It was steep and exposed, but fantanstic and the views to the Urirotstock and the other Uri alps was perfect. The Twärrüti–Buggialp cable car is a tiny cage for 2 (no windows, great for photos) and the only way to get to the alp there for the farmers. It is diesel driven, and she had to start the motor to let us down! We still had to drop down another steep 500m to Sisikon, where we could get the train back home. This is a new train connection for us, which cuts travel down to the Central Alps and Ticino by a half to one hour, so you'll be seeing more blips from this direction!
