Bunnahabhain

Another day of over 20,000 steps - boggy ones this time, from Bunnahabhain to Rubh'a'Mhàil lighthouse (see extra) and back. Beautiful views over the Sound of Jura - here you can see two of the Paps of Jura from the footbridge over the Margadale River. These are Beinn an Oir and Beinn a Chaolais. Theres a third one behind..one epic day some years ago our whole family caught the ferry to Jura and climbed them all :-)

We had intended to return via the hills but didnt want to risk missing the ferry, so retraced our boggy steps.

I had bivvied out last night at Killinallan, falling asleep after listening to the singing seals and watching the moon through the grass. The plan was to wake up before dawn and watch the Perseid meteor display once the moon had set. In reality, heavy bursts of rain fell before dawn and morning light revealed clouds of ferocious midges. I hot footed it back to the van and read my book until D woke up.

We are in the line for the ferry now. A lovely evening for a sail.
