Anyone fancy some basement shopping?

Despite the incredible heat again today, we took the ferry to Split, a town on Croatia's Dalmatian Coast, famous for its beaches and the Diocletian's Palace.

The cue to climb the bell tower was just too long so after yesterday's climb I decided to give today's tower a miss.

The Palace is on of the best preserved monuments of Roman Archirecture in the world. It was so full of wonderful history and architecture but it was just too hot to stand about in the open.

Along with hundreds of others we watched the changing of the guard. During the change, Emperor Diocletian and six of his soldiers welcome the people to Split.

We walked through the underground market and up a rather steep flight of steps to reach the Diocletian Palace but I wasn't tempted by any of the goodies on sale all I was interested in was finding a cold drink.

PS ..... sorry if my commenting is a little sparse this week
