Into the Okavango...

Today was the start of 24 hours camping in the heart of the Delta, courtesy of our mokoro polers - think punting with a canoe.  (See extras).  The mokoro trip was very soothing and we saw lots of birds in the reeds and we even saw hippos in the distance.  (Well, we saw ears, eyes and nostrils and we certainly heard their snorting...)

The highlight for me was the afternoon bushwalk where we encountered lots of animals, including impala, warthogs (invariably referred to as 'Pumbaa') and some zebra as well. On the way back to the campsite, we had to cross quite an open, wide stretch of dry riverbed; whilst we were concentrating on the family of giraffe which had appeared in the bush, the elephants appeared on the other side.  Suffice to say, it was hard to know where to point your camera... :)

The whole excursion was an amazing experience and we definitely earnt the hearty meal (and drinks :) ) which awaited us back at camp...
