Do you ever wonder how streets got their names?

Some are obvious, especially on some estates. Take where I used to live. The roads where names after RAF VC holders; Gibson, Cheshire, etc.

But what about this one? Was the land owned by the Bakers? Was it a road full of bakeries?

I don't suppose I'll ever find out.
