Well last night turned out to be even more exciting than we planned. We went off early to the opening of our friends new gallery in Ballydehob. Ballydehob was en fete - the Summer festival was going on. Actually there's a festival every weekend in Ballydehob!  It was packed - tiny people were milling about dressed in a variety of guises- SpiderMan,  Snow White, unicorns, Tomato ketchup bottle (she won along with her sister who was dressed as a mayonnaise bottle). I didn't envy the judge. Barricades were up in preparation for the turnip races - really and just don't ask. We went to the opening which was packed and I fell in love with the house more than the art- 4 storeyed complete with original doors and shutters. I think they'll do well here. We left and then decided to forego the turnip races in favour of the theatre! Yes Fit Up were in town and it was The Man in Woman's Shoes. It was in the village hall which was packed and what an incredible performance- just one man who held us entranced for 75 minutes. When we emerged it was still light-ish and Ballydehob was all go - the pubs were heaving - but we headed home, enough excitement!

And more culture this morning. We went to Lissacaha, way up in the hills behind Schull, to an exhibition of watercolour by Judi Whitton - Easel in the Ditch. Beautiful work, in fact we purchased. Then lunch and a catch up with TJ in Schull, admiring the wedding guests and their creations, who were having pre wedding drinks also in the pub.

Back home, and the butterflies are still enjoying the elfwort - lovely to see.
