Craigentinny Marbles

We had a plan to go to Bo'ness to see the steam trains. We got as far as Waverley and sat in two trains to Linlithgow. We have up after the second train got cancelled due to signal issues at Haymarket. I just struggle to see how signals can fail. Anyway, I was suitability narked. In the end Rowan and I went for a lovely walk to Portobello via Holyrood Park, Abbey Hill, Meadow Bank and Craigentinny. We had excellent ice cream on the beach and had to check out the new bookshop in Portobello. We were really impressed with the shop which really invites to browsing. We did end up with a couple of books. We took the bus back into town. I insisted on a brief stop to checkout the Craigentinny Marbles, one of the more unusual sights. It's a tomb that used to be in the middle of a field and is now surrounded by suburbia. Rumour has it that either the family was really worried about grave robbers or that the lord was really a lady. The day turned out really nice but I am still annoyed with the failed signals.
