Sparrows

As I walked down the side of the barley field a flock of sparrows lifted from it.  They landed on the top of the hedge, waiting until Lottie and I had gone and the coast was clear for them to carry on plundering the crop!

Lovely to see such a cloud of them and to hear them chattering away.  This is just a few of them, there must have been hundreds.  It's interesting when visitors from further south say they hardly ever see sparrows anymore.  We are lucky to still have so many, even though I doubt the farmers appreciate them quite as much!
